Ultimate Flexibility, endless possibilities
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ is a new bet in the process of Ambisonics signals.
It’s so difficult to express what ‘ab Advanced Decoder’ can do, because it can do SO many things.
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ comes with a ‘speaker mode’, designed to decode Ambisonics signals to any speaker layout imaginable: From 1-speaker to 64-speaker layouts. This translates to maximum flexibility for engineers working in traditional layouts such as Stereo, 5.1, Dolby Atmos, Auro, but even Engineers working with custom layouts, since every speaker can be quickly placed anywhere around the listener. In ‘speaker’ mode, up to 62 channels can be assigned to the LFE signal.
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ introduces the innovative Audio Brewers Beamforming Algorithm, developed completely in-house to offer the narrowest Beams with the greatest off-axis rejection.
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ can also be used in ‘spot mode’, in which the user can decode specific spots placed anywhere around the listener - each spot can have its own custom radius and height, adapting the signal thanks to the Audio Brewers Beamforming Algorithm.
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ also includes an ‘Auto’ mode, a great tool for dinamically adapting the output signal to where the sound is coming from. This mode can be extremely useful for boom operators and podcasters, as they dont have to aim the microphone anywhere, as the signal will automatically be aimed to the source of the sound.
But that’s not all!
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ includes our acclaimed Upscaler internally! Meaning you can work ALWAYS in 7th Order Ambisonics, it doesn’t matter if your DAW limits your signal to lower orders! ‘ab Advanced Decoder’ will detect the incoming order, upscale it to 7th Order, and then decode that!
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ includes a visualiser that visually helps you keep track of what’s important - your sound!
A three-dimensional Gate can help you narrow your signal further when the sound falls below a threshold and finally, per-channel High and Low pass filters, Solo, Mute and Gain controls allow you to customise your output to your needs.
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ adapts to your Ambisonics signal automatically, meaning that you can feed any Ambisonics signal from 1st through 7th order (1OA through 7OA*) without the need to set anything up!
‘ab Advanced Decoder’ also comes with a ‘smart troubleshooting’ algorithm, which will check your signal chain and let you know if something is wrong with it.

Decode to ANY speaker array
Create speaker layouts on-the-fly, all the way from 1 to 64 speakers. Each speaker can be placed anywhere and have their own high and low-pass properties. Speakers 3 through 64 can be assigned as LFE.
Extremely detailed Beamformer
Create up to 64 beams, each in a custom location, with custom size and gain, as well as high and low-pass filters.
The Ultimate Beamforming Algorithm!
Create your Speaker/Beam Layouts
Our ‘Presets’ system allows you to create your custom layouts of Beams or Speakers! That way, ‘ab Advanced Decoder’ can always adjust to any of your projects! You can even exchange the presets you create between Mac and Windows!
From 1 Speaker or Beam… to 64!
Decode to a maximum of 64 Speakers or Spots, each with its own Volume control, Solo/Mute, Low/High Pass Filters or On/Off toggle!
Set-and-forget
An ‘auto’ mode adjusts the focus automatically to the loudest source in the acoustic sphere and rejects anything outside its threshold - excellent for Monitoring, Podcasting or Boom operation.
Work in 7th Order. ALWAYS.
No matter your DAW and its capabilities, ‘ab Advanced Decoder’ can upscale your signal internally to 7th-Order before decoding it.
Independent Pass filters
High and Low pass filters per channel allow you to customise what sounds in each speaker or beam.
Custom-made Spatial Gate
A Spatial Gate helps you reject even further sounds that fall outside the threshold of a speaker or beam.

Compatibility Notes
*This product is compatible only with Ambisonics signals, please refer to the list of supported DAWs below.
*This product is compatible with Ambisonics Signals from 1OA to 7OA, the highest Ambisonics order possible depends on the DAW support.
For working in Ambisonics Audio, this product is compatible with the DAWs below:
Pro Tools Studio | Pro Tools Ultimate
Cubase Pro 12+ | Nuendo 12+
Logic Pro X
Studio One 7+
Reaper 6+
MaxMSP
* VST3 is a tricky one! As the VST3.7.8 SDK slowly expands through all DAWs, some DAWs might still not be compatible with tracks above 16 channels, so while our plugins are ready, each developer might adapt their DAW at different timings.
For Reaper (latest version as of today), if you stick to either 4-channel (1OA), 16-channel tracks (3OA) or 64-channel tracks (7OA), everything should work perfectly fine!
For Presonus Studio One, up to 16-channel tracks (3OA) are currently supported (through a 9.1.6 Track).
* AU is still limited to 1OA due to Logic’s own limitations, sadly.
